Verizon made an announcement that it will start charging $0.0025 per message for all long-code (10 digit phone number) initiated SMS delivery services.

This will become effective on February 01, 2019. This is what is called “carrier pass-thru fees” and will pass down to all clients of SMS delivery services effectively increasing the cost of sending SMS text messages by $0.0025 for long-code services.

Industry experts expect that other major US carriers will follow the suit soon.
