FCC Proposes Order Creating Reassigned Numbers Database
FCC is proposing to create a master database of reassigned numbers. It will take a year or maybe two to get all US carriers (there maybe 200 carriers) to fully participate.
While they are creating the database, here are the things you should consider doing to potentially mitigating legal issues:
- In your T&C, include the language that requires a user to notify the marketer if he/she is not intended to receive future SMS text msgs for any reason especially if the number has been reassigned
- Use an available database such as DNC.com or Neustar to weed out reassigned numbers
